Donald Francis Dougan, a 68-year-old resident of Princeton, died at his home on Wednesday, March 30, 2011.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, April 3, 2011, at the Princeton First Baptist Church with Pastor Chuck Miller and Dr. Robert Davidson officiating. Burial will be in the Princeton Cemetery.
Open visitation and viewing will begin at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 2, 2011 at the Greenlee-Middleton Funeral Chapel in Princeton, where the family visitation will be from 6 to 7 p.m. on Saturday.
Mr. Dougan was born on March 17, 1943 in Maryville, the son of Farrell and Margaret Kling Dougan. He was raised in Barnard, where he graduated from South Nodaway High School in 1961. After high school, he joined the U.S. Marines Corp and served during the Cuban Missile Crisis and the early part of the Vietnam War. In 1965, he joined the Missouri State Highway Patrol and served in St. Joseph for five years. In 1970 he became a food inspector for the United States Department of Agriculture, working in Colorado for several years before moving to Princeton in 1981. He retired from the USDA after 29 years of service.
He was a member of the Princeton First Baptist Church, and a member and past commander of the VFW Post #7159 of Princeton. He enjoyed raising and riding horses and was a member of the American Paint Horse Association and the American Quarter Horse Association.
He was married on Sept. 4, 1987 to Amber Harlene Stiles, who survives of the home.
He is also survived by two daughters, Stacy Wood and her husband, Tony of Maryville, and Tessa Kirsch of Johnston, IA; one granddaughter, Kensley Wood; one brother, Ron Dougan and his wife, Norma of Trenton, Missouri; one sister, Nancy Gibson and her husband, Don of Nixa; and by other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Steve Dougan.
