The Chillicothe Constitution-Tribune reported that the plan includes the 16 percent cut, with some extra duty pay then being increased dependant upon the amount of time the person receiving the extra duty pay has been with the school district. It is estimated the district would save around $31,000 next year by this action.
The vote to make the cuts was 3-2 with one board member not present. The president of the school booster club, along with coaches and students, spoke to the board concerning the negative impact the cuts would have on their programs. Several individuals walked out of the meeting once they had their say, including the coaches and teachers who had also attended the meeting.
