Lady Pirates Drop Two In Atchison, KS
“We didn’t handle the wind at all,” Lady Pirates’ Head Coach Max Mothersbaugh said. “Their field is up on top of a hill and the wind was just gale-force. We struggled with balls hit in the air and our pitchers even struggled with control because of the angle of the wind. You are going to have days like that. You don’t like it, but it’s one of those things when you get done where you sit down and say, ‘okay what did you learn from this’.”
The Lady Pirates were led by Hannah Hill and Emily Anderson at the plate in game one. Hill was 3-for-3 with a run scored and Anderson had a triple and drove in two runs. Stacy Hines suffered the game-one loss on the hill for North Central.
In game two, Hines had a double and drove in all three of the Lady Pirates’ runs. Jessica Thompson was the losing pitcher for NCMC.
The two losses dropped the Lady Pirates’ record to 10-3 on the season.
North Central will return to the diamond this weekend, playing a doubleheader at St. Charles Community College on Saturday and a doubleheader at Jefferson Community College in Hillsboro on Sunday.
