Capeder Receives All-District Honor

Mar 23, 2011 | Basketball, Sports & Recreation

The awards continue to flow in for Trenton Lady Bulldogs all-time leading scorer Rebekah Capeder. Today Capeder was named to the Missouri Sportswriters and Sportscasters All-Northwest District Team for a second-straight year.
The honor comes just a week after Capeder was named to the Missouri Basketball Coaches Association’s Class 3, All-District 16 Team. Capeder was also named to the KMZU Dream Team this year and was a All-Gallatin Tournament selection as well.

Capeder began to garner recognition last season and earned her first-ever all-district selections from both the coaches and media. This season the expectations were already present as Capeder embarked on her senior year.
“The expectations were there,” Capeder said. “I had a lot of help from my teammates, though, and I was able to reach those expectations because of that.”
Capeder delivered another fantastic season, averaging 17 points and 12.2 rebounds per game. She eclipsed both the 1,000-point and 1,000-rebound mark this year and became the school’s all-time leader in points, finishing her career with 1,390. Her 1,203 career rebounds ranks first all -time in school history and places her 18th all-time in state history. Her career average of 12.66 rebounds per game ranks 13th in the state.
“We are really proud of Rebekah and everything she has done in her high school career,” Lady Bulldogs Head Coach Quentin Albrecht said. “She has really earned it. She is in the gym all the time in the summer, she plays a lot, she works out in the weight room like a beast and, because of that self-motivation, she has not only earned those honors, but has helped lead our program back in the right direction. She has been a great role model for the younger players and now they understand what you have to do to be successful. I think Rebekah’s efforts will pay off for us for many years to come.”
Despite having such a decorated career, Capeder still places team accomplishment ahead of all the awards, accolades and individual honors she has received.
“Of everything I have been able to accomplish playing basketball, I would have to say being on a winning team my senior year ranks first,” Capeder said.
