Ben Randall Hurst, an 89-year-old resident of Lilburn, GA, died on Tuesday, March 1, 2011.

Funeral services were held on Friday, March 4, 2011 in Snellville, GA. Internment was at the Eternal Hills Memory Gardens in Snellville.
Mr. Hurst was born on Aug. 20, 1921 in Atchison County, the son of Ben and Bessie Hurst. He later moved with his family to Brimson and graduated in 1939 from Trenton High School. He enlisted in the Navy Air Corps in 1942 and was commissioned a second lieutenant in March 1944. He moved to the Marine Air Corps and flew 117 missions in the Korean War. He received the Distinguished Flying Cross and five air medals. He retired in 1963 as a first lieutenant and he and his family moved to Lilburn.
He was married to Doris Bellamy of Commerce, GA, who preceded him in death.
He is survived by a son, Richard; three daughters, Randa Harper and her husband, Harold, of Lilburn, Cheri Greene of Atlanta, GA and Sharla Taugh of Belton; and one brother, Leslie of Scottsdale, AZ.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; two daughters who died in infancy; two sisters, Louetta Moore and Mary Anna Downing; and a brother, H.P. Hurst.
Gary and Ron Hurst and Larry, Dennis and Dwight Moore, all of Trenton, are nephews. Loma Hurst of Trenton is a sister-in-law.
