Great-Granddaughter In Music Contest

Grace Willis, great-granddaughter of Richard and Donna Ashelnfelter, participated in the annual Middle School String Orchestra Festival Contests of Kansas City Middle Schools on Friday, March 4.

Her string orchestra consists of violins, violas, cellos and bass and includes 54 seventh grade students from the Bernard Campbell Middle School in Lee’s Summit. Grace is in her fourth year with violin. Contest numbers were “The Entrance of the Queen of Sheba” by Handel and “Concert Piece for Strings” by Del Borgo. The orchestra was the only seventh grade orchestra to receive I ratings on both presentations.
Grace is the daughter of Courtenay Roberts Span of Lee’s Summit and daughter of Jerry Roberts of Springfield and the late Kristin Ashenfelter Roberts.
