The Pleasant View R-6 Board of Education met on Monday night, approving calendar amendments and rehiring all non-tenured certified staff for next year.

According to information provided by Superintendent Tiffany Otto, May 17, 18 and 19 were added to the school calendar as make-up dates for days of school missed due to inclement weather. The last day of school will now be May 19 with an early dismissal at 1:20 p.m. The final day is pending any more days being required to be made up.
The board reviewed for transportation bids from North American Central School Bus, Durham School Services, Randy Small Transportation and Applebus. No action was taken.
It was announced the district has been awarded the Distinction in Performance Award by the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education. The award will be presented at a program on April 18 in Maryville.
Mrs. Otto gave an update of possible school lighting upgrades. Phil Minnick is to be at the April board meeting to make a presentation on upgrades.
The school district will again provide school health physicals for students on April 29. The staff health fair is scheduled for April 11.
Mrs. Otto reported that a MUSIC safety inspection was conducted of the school building and grounds on Feb. 17. She also announced that Jessi Westcott, Adam Kirby and Truman Elbert were local school science fair winners and will compete at the regional contest in St. Joseph on March 14.
There was a discussion on the school website contract renewal, however, no action was taken. An update on ECSE requirements was heard as well as updates on the fifth and sixth grade classroom, the KEYS classroom and the special education program.
Following an executive session, the board voted to hire all non-tenured classified staff for the 2011-2012 year. Salaries have not been set.
The board accepted the resignation of Hilary Girdner as the speech/language pathologist and Kayla Gragg as the speech education/speech implementer. Carrie Rogers was also hired to coach the seven and eighth grade track teams.
The next meeting of the board will be on Tuesday, April 12.
