Norma Gay Thackeray, an 87-year-old resident of Falls, City, NE, died on Wednesday, Feb. 23, 2011 at the Community Medical Center in Falls City.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 26, 2011, at the Princeton United Methodist Church with Pastor Dan Stratmann officiating. Cremation will follow the service with inurnment of the cremains in the St. Paul Cemetery, northwest of Princeton, at a later date.
Open visitation and viewing will begin at 8 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 25, 2011 at the Greenlee-Middleton Funeral Chapel in Princeton, where the family visitation will be from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
In addition to the services in Princeton, a memorial visitation is scheduled for today (Thursday, Feb. 24, 2011) at the First United Methodist Church in Falls City, with a brief memorial service following at 8 p.m.
Mrs. Thackeray was born on Jan. 21, 1924 near Princeton, the daughter of Oran Crell and Mary Margaret Stanley Ogle. She was raised in the Princeton community and was a 1941 graduate of Princeton High School. She also was a graduate of the College of Commerce of Kansas City. She was employed for several years as clerk for the Mercer County Probate/Magistrate Judge’s office in Princeton. She was a member of the Princeton United Methodist Church, the Mercer County Historical Society, the Cornelia Beekman Chapter of the DAR and was a charter member of the Ogle/Ogles Family Association. She enjoyed bird watching, flowers and traveling.
She was married on July 14, 1945 to George William Thackeray II, who preceded her in death on July 19, 1994.
She is survived by her son, Ernie Thackeray of Tomah, WI; her daughter, Trudy Burenheide and her husband, Bernard of Falls City; four grandchildren, Beth Thackeray, Brett Burenheide, Trina Schropfer and Will Burenheide; four great-grand-children, Carter, Dawson and Easton Burenheide and Amber Elizabeth Schropfer; and other relatives and friends.
In addition to her husband, she preceded in death by her parents.
