Virgil Walter Brown, a 90-year-old resident of Jamesport, died on Sunday, Feb. 13, 2011 at the Menorah Medical Center in Overland Park, KS.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 17, 2011 at the Pilot Grove #1 Baptist Church at Gilman City. Burial will be in Masonic Cemetery at Jamesport.
General visitation begins after 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 16, 2011 at the Roberson Funeral Home in Gilman City. A family visitation will be from 2 to 3 p.m. on Thursday at the church.
Mr. Brown was born on Feb. 17, 1920 in Jamesport, the son of William Walter and Lula Pearl Baker Brown. He was a farmer near the Jamesport community. He had served several years on the Tri-County School Board of Jamesport. He was a member of the Pilot Grove #1 Baptist Church at Gilman City.
He was married at Jamesport on April 19, 1961 to Joyce Watkins, who preceded him in death on Dec. 27, 2001.
He is survived by a daughter, Barbara Alden and her husband, Paul, of Gilman City; and one sister, Mary Hudson of Brookfield.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Roger Neil Brown; two sisters, Lola Mae Scott and Carrie Speights; and three brothers, Woodrow, Ferris, and Charles Herbert Brown.
