Second Ward Councilman Joe Foster, who on Wednesday announced his resignation from the Trenton City Council, will have to get an order from the Third Judicial Circuit Court to have his name removed from the April ballot.

Foster, in his resignation letter, said he would not be a candidate for re-election, however, his name has already been certified for inclusion on the April city election ballot. According to the secretary of state’s office, removal of his name would take a court order.
There is a second candide who has filed for the second ward position, Rickey Mason. Persons wanting to file as a declared write-in candidate would have until March 25 to do so at the county clerk’s office.
