Norma Elaine Summers, a 78-year-old resident of Holden, died on Saturday, Feb. 5, 2011 at Saint Luke’s East Hospital in Lee’s Summit. She was a former Princeton resident.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 11, 2011 at the Princeton First Baptist Church. Burial will be in the Princeton Cemetery.
Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 10, 2011 at the Greenlee-Middleton Funeral Chapel in Princeton, where a family visitation will be held from 6 to 8 that evening.
Mrs. Summers was born on Nov. 12, 1932 in Princeton, the daughter of Austin and Lorraine Owens Minshall. She was married on Dec. 31, 1950 in Princeton to Raymond George Summers, who preceded her in death on Nov. 21, 2002. She lived in Princeton until moving to Holden in 1993. She was a farm wife and worked for the Mercer County Extension office, then later drove a school bus for the Princeton R-5 School District, After moving to Holden, she worked for the Holden R-3 School District for two years.
She enjoyed gardening, reading and embroidery work. She did custom sewing and mending out of her home for several years.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Princeton and attended the New Life Fellowship Baptist Church in Holden.
She is survived by four sons, Donald Ray “Slick” Summers and his wife, Patty, of Lee’s Summit, Terry Allen Summers and his wife, Kay, of Independence, Craig Summers and his wife, Colleen of Holden and James Bradley Summers and his wife, Susie, of Holden; a daughter, Robbin Lynn Ratcliff and her husband, Brian, of Easton, KS; one brother, Harold Minshall and his wife, Jane, of Raymore; two brothers-in-law, William Shive of Sedalia and J.A. “Buggs” German of El Dorado Springs; a sister-in-law, Lena Lane of Unionville; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; and a sister, Carolyn Shive.
