Lady Bulldogs
The Trenton JV girls are still unbeaten after Saturday’s win and moved to 11-0 as a result. The Lady Bulldogs trailed 9-8 after the opening quarter, but imposed their will on South Harrison in the second quarter with a dominating press that allowed the Lady Bulldogs to grab a 24-13 halftime lead.
“The girls played hard and had to overcome being down 9-8 in the first quarter,” JV Lady Bulldogs’ Coach Casey Beavers said. “The girls came out in the second quarter and executed their press very well.”
The Lady Bulldogs would only build on their lead in the second half as they pulled away for the 27-point win.
Maddie Hooyman led the Lady Bulldogs with 19 points and Madi Trump finished with 16. Makaila Capeder scored 14 and Megan Derry and Chandler Wilson each scored two points.
Bulldogs
The Trenton boys took control of their game right from the start, outscoring South Harrison 18-7 in the first quarter. South Harrison actually shaved a point off the Trenton lead in the second quarter, but the Bulldogs responded with a 12-2 run in the third quarter. With a big lead, Trenton was able to cruise through the final frame on their way to the victory.
“The boys played a very good game,” JV boys’ Coach Adam Clark said. “Our defense was aggressive and we rebounded well at both ends. The boys played very unselfish on offense, having 16 assists for the game. It was nice to see so many players have some success.”
Chanse Houghton led the Bulldogs, now 6-6, with 15 points. Dalton Burkeybile added 10 points while Mason Taylor had seven points, Freddie Pannell had six points and Chase Tolson finished with five points. Trenton also got four points from Wilson Utley and two each from Charlie Hoffman, Aaron Delp and Christopher Kurtz.
The JV teams will turn right around and face South Harrison tonight at home in the THS gym at 6 o’clock.
