The North Central Missouri College basketball teams pulled off a difficult feat on Saturday as the Lady Pirates and Pirates combined to sweep Forest Park on the road in St. Louis. The old gym at Forest Park hasn’t been too friendly to North Central in years past, but on Saturday, the Lady Pirates won 59-48, and the Pirates won,106-100.

Lady Pirates
The North Central women found themselves in a fight early on and a back-and-forth first half of basketball ended with the Lady Pirates down 25-23. The NCMC women were able to turn things around in a big way in the second half as they exploded with a 36-23 run to close the game and score an 11-point win.
Leading the way for the Lady Pirates was Jordan Ewigman, who racked up a double-double with 16 points and 11 rebounds. Maggie Arnall added 12 points and Ashley Zeih finished with 10 for the Lady Pirates, who moved to 17-4 overall and 5-1 in Region 16 play.
Pirates
The North Central men held a 52-38 lead at the break and the lead swelled to 19 points at one point in the second half. Forest Park caught fire from beyond the arc late in the game, however, and began fouling at the other end. While the Pirates were getting one or two points each trip down the court, Forest Park was responding with three at the other end. The lead began to shrink and, with 20 second left, the Pirates led by just five points. North Central would not be denied the win, however, as they fended off the challenge, winning by six points.
JaWan Davis had 26 points to lead the Pirates, now 11-8 overall and 4-2 in region action, and Brandon Jones added 22. Dondre Craig finished with 17 points and Reggie Maxwell had 16.
NCMC will be home Wednesday as the women face Cottey College at 5:30 p.m. and the men follow against Marshalltown.
