The Gilman City Lady Hawks picked up a win over North Daviess Wednesday night in the consolation semifinals of the Gilman City Tournament. The Lady Hawks had little trouble punching their ticket to the consolation game as they won 60-27.
Lady Hawks Into Consolation Game
The Lady Hawks jumped out of the gates quickly, running out to a 16-2 lead in the first quarter. The hits kept coming for the Lady Knights in the second quarter as Gilman City pushed its lead to 31-9 by halftime.
The Lady Hawks continued to control the pace of the game in the second half as they coasted to the win.
Leading the way for the Lady Hawks in the lopsided victory was Saige Johnson, who poured in a game-high 19 points. Behind Johnson for the Lady Hawks were Shelby and Shania Harris, who scored 11 and 10 points respectively. Gilman also got eight points from Danielle Myers, six from Maggie Ward and two each from McKenzie Mulnix, Hailey Francis and Hannah Snuffer.
With the win, the Lady Hawks improved to 3-12 on the season.
The Gilman girls will now play for the consolation title Friday at 5 p.m. in Gilman City. The Lady Hawks will face second-seeded Cainsville in the consolation final.
