Lady Bulldogs
The Trenton JV girls ran their record to a perfect 9-0 as they picked up a 14-point win. The win also completed a sweep of the Chillicothe girls basketball program this season as the varsity, freshmen and now junior varsity all picked up wins over the Lady Hornets this year.
Trenton kept the Lady Hornets scoreless in the first quarter and held a 19-5 lead at halftime. Trenton continued to show the way throughout the second half, pulling away for the win.
Maddie Hooyman had 19 points to lead the Lady Bulldogs and Madi Trump finished with seven. Makaila Capeder and Chandler Wilson each scored six points while Tosha Wilson had three and Katey Norris had two.
Bulldogs
The JV boys stayed within striking distance of the Hornets after falling behind 10-7 in the first quarter. But they were never able to wrangle the lead away from the home team.
“It was a battle the entire game,” JV boys Head Coach Adam Clark said. “I thought our defense got better in the second half. On the offensive end the boys had to work hard for every point, nothing came easy.”
Freddie Pannell led the way for the Bulldogs with 10 points, 11 rebounds and four steals. Trenton also got six points and three assists from Chase Tolson and six points from Wilson Utley. Chanse Houghton had four points and Aaron Delp had two.
The JV boys fell to 4-6 on the season with the loss.
Both JV teams will be at home on Thursday, hosting Lathrop. Action begins with the girls game at 5 p.m. and the boys will follow. A freshmen boys game with Cameron will follow the JV games.
