Charles Richard (“Dobe”) Young, a 70-year-old resident of Chillicothe, died Thursday, Jan. 13, 2011 at NorthCare Hospice House at North Kansas City Hospital after a brave battle with cancer.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2011 at the United Methodist Church of Chillicothe. Burial will be in the Haseville Cemetery.
A family visitation is scheduled from 6 to 8 o’clock tonight (Monday, Jan. 17, 2011) at the Lindley Funeral Home of Chillicothe. Open visitation is under way.
Mr. Young was born Jan. 4, 1941 in Humphreys, the son of Kenneth and Lois Sayers Young. He graduated from Meadville High School and attended Northeast Missouri State University.
On June 12, 1960, he married his high school sweetheart, Judy Meneely, and they moved to Chillicothe. She survives of the home.
Mr. Young worked at Donaldson Co. for 41 years, with most of those years spent in a management capacity. He retired at age 60 as Tool and Die Coordinator. He was a talented musician and spent many hours after his retirement entertaining in various venues with his band, “The Rusty Strings.” When he wasn’t entertaining, he and Judy enjoyed spending time with their children and grandchildren and watched numerous sporting events over the years.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Young is survived by three sons, Rich Young of Kansas City, Rob Young and his wife, Cori of Overland Park, KS and Jason Young; a daughter, Pam Nickle and her husband, Pat of Olathe, KS; a brother, Randall “Dyke” Young; an uncle, W.E. Sayers; an aunt, Carole Phillips; grandsons, Tyler, Shane and Brett Nickle and Jack Young; and three granddaughters, Ashley, Catherine and Lizzy Young.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Kenneth “Bud” Young.
