District Elks Hoop Shoot

Three winners of the Area Elks Hoop Shoot in Trenton captured first place on Saturday at Cameron and a trip to the State Elks Hoop Shoot in St. Louis. Salem Croy and Connor Cotton of Trenton and Bailey Owens of Mercer took first place at the district event.

Croy won the 8- to 9-year-old girls division, hitting 16-of-25 free throws. Cotton hit 16-of-25 as well, to tie for first in the 10- to 11-year-old boys division. Cotton hit four-of-five in the first shoot-off to tie again. In the second shoot-off, Cotton hit three-of-five to win the title. Owens won the girls 12- to 13-year-old division, hitting 16-of-25 shots.
Winners of the district Hoop Shoot will compete at the state competition at Windsor High School in St. Louis on Saturday, Feb. 5.
