The initial weigh-in for the annual Green Hills Weight Loss Challenge will be held this Thursday and Friday at the Ketcham Community Center.
Weight Loss Challenge Begins This Week
Persons planning to take part in the eight-week event can weigh on either day during regular KCC hours. Persons will then weigh weekly through March 4, with the winners of the challenge to be announced on Tuesday, March 8. Weight loss percentages will be published each week in the Trenton Republican-Times, a co-sponsor of the event along with the Grundy County Health Department and the KCC.
The contest will be determined in both men’s and women’s categories, with first-, second- and third-place cash prizes of $350, $250 and $150 awarded by the health department. The names of the top 25 percent of those losing weight will have their name placed in a drawing for prizes, including two one-year memberships to the KCC and two one-year subscriptions to the Republican-Times.
In addition, the person who has maintained the highest percentage of weight lost from last year’s event will also be awarded a cash prize of $500. For more information, persons can contact the health department at 359-4196.
