The North Central Missouri College Lady Pirates got their annual Florida swing off on the right foot Thursday night, picking up a 72-54 victory over Brevard Community College in Melbourne, FL.
The Lady Pirates established a lead early, playing some of their best ball of the season and led 35-26 at the break. NCMC continued to make good use of their strong post game and pulled away in the second half on their way to the 18-point victory.
NCMC Women Win In Florida
“We played the best we have played all season,” Lady Pirates’ Head Coach Jenni Croy said. “We came out very aggressive and dominated from the start.”
Ashley Zeih was unstoppable in the paint, racking up a game-high 24 points.
“Ashley played the best game I have seen her play,” Croy said. “They had some tall girls guarding her down their and she was still able to score, almost at will.”
Behind Zeih, NCMC’s Jordan Ewigman added 11 points and nine rebounds for the Lady Pirates and Taylor Frandson finished with eight points and seven rebounds. Lauren Rackers chipped in with five assists.
With the win, the second in a row for the Lady Pirates, the North Central women moved to 10-3 on the season, hitting the halfway point of a goal set before the season started to win 20 games.
The Lady Pirates have one more game in Florida before returning home. The Lady Pirates will face Palm Beach Community College in Palm Beach, FL on Saturday. Action is set to tip off at 2 p.m.
