Ethel Coldsnow Lanpher, a 94-year-old resident of Pearl’s II Eden for Elders in Princeton, died on Monday, Dec. 6, 2010 at the care center.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 9, 2010, at the New Salem Funeral Home in Independence. Burial will be in the Salem Cemetery in Independence.
A family visitation will be from noon until service time at the funeral home. Open visitation and viewing will begin at 8 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 8, 2010, at the Greenlee-Middleton Funeral Chapel in Princeton, where a family visitation will be from 5 to 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
Mrs. Lanpher was born on Oct. 20, 1916 in Independence, the daughter of Wallace and Maud (Jones) Coldsnow. She was raised and spent her entire life in Independence until moving to Princeton in April of 2005 and residing at Pearl’s II Eden for Elders. She was a graduate of William Chrisman High School of Independence.
She was a homemaker who enjoyed cooking, nurturing her family, embroidering and quilt piecing. She was a life long member of the Atherton United Methodist Church and served as pianist for many years.
Mrs. Lanpher was married on May 9, 1936 to Edgar Robert “Ed” Lanpher, who preceded her in death in June 1992.
She is survived by a son, Jerry Lanpher, of Independence; a daughter, Lisa Banks and her husband, Joe of Princeton; a granddaughter, Gretchen Feitz of Wyatt, IN; two step-grandsons, Mike Banks and his wife, Lynn of Calera, OK and Steve Banks and his wife, Amanda of Grain Valley; four great-grandchildren, Jesse, Anna, Johanna and Dietrich; eight step-great-grandchildren, Kristen, Charity, Josh, Katelan, Sam, Luke, Seth and Caroline; a niece, Karen Johnston and her husband, James; and a nephew, Donald Coldsnow.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her half-sister, Lee Gee; her brothers, Forrest and Harold Coldsnow; her sister, Thelma Owens; and her daughter-in-law, Lucia Lanpher.
