Curtis K. Powell, a 53-year-old resident of Forsyth, died on Saturday, Dec. 4, 2010 at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield from injuries suffered in an accident in which he was a passenger. He was a former Trenton resident.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 10, 2010 at the First Baptist Church of Forsyth. Burial will be at a later date.
A family visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 9, 2010 at the Forsyth Whelchel Funeral Chapel in Forsyth.
Mr. Powell was born on March 8, 1957 in Trenton, the son of Charles and Mary Powell. He moved with his family to Forsyth in 1973 and graduated in 1975 from Forsyth High School. He attended Southwest Missouri State University in Springfield, graduating with honors. He had been a masonry contractor for the last 30 years.
He is survived by his mother, Mary Powell of Forsyth; a daughter, Victoria Powell of Springfield; two brothers, Charles Powell and his wife, Connie, of Ozark and Rodney Powell and his wife, Charla, of Forsyth; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Charles E. Powell, and a brother, Warren Powell.
