Mildred Hammond, a 75-year-old Trenton resident, died at 5:15 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 13, 2010 at the Sunnyview Nursing Home in Trenton where she had been since Sept. 8, 2010.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 16, 2010 at Resthaven Mortuary, north of Trenton. Burial will be in the Resthaven Memorial Gardens, north of Trenton. A scheduled visitation will be held from 7 to 8 o’clock tonight (Monday, Nov. 15, 2010) at the mortuary.
Mrs. Hammond was born on July 28, 1935 in Hermitage, the daughter of Bonnie and Osie Reed Walker. She graduated from Laredo High School and lived all her adult life in Trenton. She was married to Morris Hammond and they owned and operated the Morris Cab Company. He preceded her in death on July 3, 1995.
She was a member of the Alpha Baptist Church.
Mrs. Hammond is survived by a daughter, Stormy Johnson and her husband, Paul of Trenton; a son, Martin Russell and his wife, Nedra of Blue Springs; a sister, Veda Stuart and her husband, Norman of Trenton; two brothers, L.J. Walker of Apache Junction, AZ and Roy Walker and his wife, Patricia of Holden; a step-son, Doug Hammond and his wife, Yuko of Independence; a step-daughter, Beverly Fowler of Lees’ Summit; and two granddaughters, Jessie Hammond and Rachel Morrison.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Carl Walker; and a sister, Velma Clark.
