Lady Pirates
The North Central women jumped all over the Lady Spartans, running out to an 11-0 lead. North Central wouldn’t look back as they controlled the game throughout the night, running away with a 20-point victory. The win moved the Lady Pirates, who have been impressive in the young season, to 3-0 on the year.
Leading the way once again for the Lady Pirates was Jordan Ewigman, who has turned out to be a very nice pick up for NCMC. Ewigman broke the 20-point barrier for the third-straight game, finishing with a team-high 24. Freshman Brittany Williams added 11.
Pirates
The North Central men weren’t as lucky, falling 71-57. The Pirates dug themselves a hole early, but were able to rally back to within six points at halftime and actually tied the game at one point in the second half. Things were not meant to be as Southwestern caught fire down the stretch and buried the Pirates with a big run late.
Brandon Jones led the scoring for North Central, scoring 18 points and JaWan Davis added 14.
With the loss, North Central falls to 1-1 on the season.
Next up for NCMC is another home doubleheader with Iowa Central Community College on Tuesday night. Action at the Ketcham Community Center tips off with the women’s game at 5:30 p.m. and the men’s game will follow at 7:30.
