The Grundy R-5 girls opened play in the Tri-County Junior High Basketball Tournament Tuesday night, falling to Mercer 31-19 in the opening round.

Leading the way for Grundy was Mckenna Owens, who scored seven points. The Lady Panthers also got four points from Mikaela Munday, while Mercer was paced by Michelle Bardwell, who scored a game-high 15 points.
Grundy R-5 (2-4) will play again tonight at 5:45.
