Field trips and facility issues were among the topics discussed by the Tri-County R-7 and Chula boards of education during meetings held Tuesday evening.

Tri-County R-7
The Tri-County R-7 Board of Education approved two field trips and discussed transportation costs during its meeting held at Jamesport.
According to information provided by Superintendent Phil Fox, the board approved trips to the National FFA Convention in Indianapolis, IN and the FCCLA Cluster meeting in North Carolina. Board members accepted a bid of $2,087 from Team Construction for the replacement of skirting on the preschool building and adopted revised policies for the ELL and Homeless programs. Also approved was a resolution allowing the CTA to use the school tax number and a resolution to allow the establishment of a line of credit for the incidental fund. The board also amended the budget for the 2010-2011 school year.
Board members held a discussion comparing the cost of leasing buses versus owning them and tabled any action until more information can be received. They also learned that the MSIP review has been scheduled for April 5, 2011 and were provided information regarding the review and advanced questionnaire information.
Following an executive session, the board voted to release Jayla Smith from the duty of senior sponsor.
The next regular meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m., Nov. 11.
Chula
The Chula board accepted an offer from Forefront Environmental in which the district will pay for the leasing of air cleaning equipment and the labor costs for removal of asbestos material will be donated.
According to information provided by Administrator Jocelyn Meservey, the board voted to add Heather Simpson, Donita Little and Sally Peterson to the substitute teacher list and accepted reports from the PDC and Curriculum committees. The board also approved a Red Wheel fundraiser to fund an upcoming field trip for students in grades kindergarten through second.
In other business, board members voted to table a discussion of board procedures and form until next month and heard a report from Ms. Meservey on the at-risk and gifted programs.
An executive session was held to discuss personnel, with no announcement made.
The next regular meeting is scheduled for Nov. 9.
