Tri-County traveled to Galt on Monday night for an HDC Conference doubleheader with Grundy R-5. The Lady Panthers took the girls game for Grundy, winning 15-5, but Tri-County took the boys game, winning 14-11.

Marina Munday chalked up two doubles and three RBIs and Mina Headrick went 2-for-3 with two RBIs to lead the Lady Panthers to a 10-run win. Hannah Sweet led Tri-County, going 2-for-3 with a double and two runs scored.
The boys game saw Tri-County take an 8-0 lead only to have Grundy come back with nine unanswered runs of their own. A shaky fifth inning that saw three walks and two errors allowed Tri-County to re-take the lead with five more runs. Grundy put up one in the bottom of the inning, but couldn’t come back as they fell. Nate Sutton was 2-for-3 with a double and four RBIs and Ben Troyer went 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs to lead the Mustangs’ offense. Grundy was led by Jordan Whitney, who was 2-for-3 with two doubles. Shawn Gott, Clayton Radcliff and Destin Gann all had two RBIs each for the Panthers.
This weekend, both the Grundy and Tri-County boys will be in action in the state tournament in Chillicothe. Both girls squads start district play on Oct. 6.
