Trenton’s two-headed pitching attack looked impressive yet again as Chanel Pash and Scotlin Hurley combined for the three-hit shutout. Pash threw the first four frames, allowing one hit and one walk while striking out two on her way to the win. Hurley came on to pitch the final three innings and scattered two hits to go with one walk and three strikeouts.
“We are getting better and better every game,” Lady Bulldogs’ Head Coach Steve Richman said. “We seem to be getting past the early season mistakes we made and are improving on defense. We are also not letting teams score and throwing shutouts on the mound.”
At the plate, Trenton continued solid play as well, racking up seven runs on nine hits. Lindsey Derry went 3-for-4 with two runs scored, a stolen base and two RBIs. Maddie Hooyman and Hurley were each 2-for-4 with two runs scored and Hooyman stole two bases. Both of Hurley’s hits were doubles and she drove in a run as well.
Trenton’s other run was scored by Makaila Capeder, who stole a base as well while pinch running for Derry. Kate Lowrey and Pash were both 1-for-3 with an RBI.
“We hit the ball hard,” Richman said. “The offense did a god job of putting the ball in play.”
With the win, the Lady Bulldogs improved to 7-3 on the season. Trenton has now won three in a row and four of their last five contests.
Next up for the Lady Bulldogs is the annual North Central Missouri College Nan Carter Classic. The classic will be held at the Ebbe Sports Complex in Trenton this Saturday. Action is set to begin at 9 a.m.
