Junior Varsity
The Trenton JV rolled to 2-0 as they won at home for a second-straight week. Trenton started slow out of the gates offensively, but a strong defensive performance kept them in good shape. Dillon Triplet scored around the end in the first quarter on a 30-yard run to give Trenton a 7-0 lead. Quarterback Jacob Spillman ran the ball in from 20 yards out in the second quarter. Seth Acton booted point-after kicks following both scores and at halftime Trenton led 14-0.
The second half was where Trenton broke open the game. The Bulldogs scored four times and kicker Seth Acton connected on extra points on all but one of the scores. Triplet scored again, quarterback Jacob Spillman ran for another touchdown and Freddie Pannell scored twice, once on a rushing touchdown and once on a fumble recovery.
The win moved the JV to 2-0 on the season. The squad will be at home again next Monday, taking on Putnam County at C.F. Russell Stadium. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m.
Freshmen
The Trenton freshmen lost for a second-straight week, but were able to get on the scoreboard this time.
The Bulldog freshmen struck first, scoring on a 46-yard run by Chanse Houghton in the first quarter. Garrett Runnels scored on the two-point try and Trenton led 8-0. Richmond got into the end zone once in the second quarter, but failed on the two-point try, allowing the Bulldogs to maintain an 8-6 lead at halftime.
Richmond came back in the second half, scoring three times to take the lead. Trenton scored once more on a 54-yard pass from Chris Kurtz to Houghton and Runnells ran in another two-point conversion.
The scoring wasn’t enough to overtake Richmond, however, as Trenton fell, 30-16.
The game was the last scheduled contest for the freshman team this season.
