The Grundy R-5 Board of Education held its regular monthly meeting Thursday evening, setting the date for graduation and hearing building principal reports.
Grundy R-5 Board Sets Graduation Date
Superintendent Rob Deaver said high school graduation has been scheduled for Sunday, May 15 in the high school gym. The ceremony will get under way at 2 p.m. Board members approved the health and wellness program evaluation, as well as hearing an update on building maintenance and reviewing new policy updates. Elementary Principal Lisa Fairley reported that August attendance was 98.59 percent. She also reviewed MAP scores and gave an update on professional development activities in communication arts. Secondary Principal Randy Huffman reported attendance at his building to date is 97.37 percent. He thanked those who helped set up the new softball scoreboard, gave an update on ASVAB testing as well as reviewing 2010 MAP and EOC scores with the board. Both principals gave a report on upcoming events.
It was also announced that there will be an early dismissal for teacher in-service on Friday, Sept. 17. High school students will dismiss at 11:30 a.m., with the elementary to dismiss at 11:40 a.m. An executive session to discuss personnel was held, with no announcement made.
The next regular meeting is set for 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 14 at the elementary building in Humphreys.
