Although the holiday is still three months away, the Trenton Downtown Improvement Association, the Trenton Area Chamber of Commerce and the city of Trenton are already making plans for the Christmas holiday.
This website brought to you in part by the following sponsor:

Wednesday, Dec. 1 has been designated as “Christmas in Trenton” with several activities being planned in the downtown area to celebrate the season. The highlight will be “Living Christmas Displays” in windows of downtown businesses with the assistance of business owners, building owners and community members. The displays would then be open for public display during the evening from 5 to 8 p.m. when other activities will be going on in the downtown area.
Patterned after a similar event in Moberly, businesses in the downtown area will be asked to decorate their windows with a “live display” depicting a holiday theme. These can be such things as a Santa’s workshop, holiday carolers, “Sugar Plum Fairy Dancers,” etc. Creativity is the name of the game and participants are asked to come up with their own original idea. The one rule will be that no Santas are included in the displays as Santa will be at Sesquicentennial Park, greeting children, and will be too busy to be a part of a display during the evening.
A Christmas committee has been formed and will be contacting businesses about their participation in this holiday project. Businesses that do not have time to decorate can still be a part of the holiday event as local groups and organizations will be asked to do a display in those businesses. The displays will be included in business windows along Main Street from the corner of Ninth and Main streets, north to Crowder Road. Other businesses not located in the downtown area but who want to participate are invited to do so as well by having a display in the window of a downtown window or selling food items.
A full schedule of events will be announced at a later time.
Persons wanting to participate in the Christmas activities or having a question may contact TDIA Director Debbie Carman as 339-7606 or Chamber President Jordan Ferguson at 359-4324.
