Dorothy E. Boon Holmes, a 90-year-old Brookfield resident, died on Thursday, Sept. 2, 2010 at Morningside Center in Chillicothe.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 7, 2010 at the Lindley Funeral Home in Chillicothe.
A family visitation is from 5 to 7 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 6, 2010 at the funeral home. Open visitation will be held from noon until 8 p.m. on Monday and from 8 a.m. until service time on Tuesday.
Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Gardens at Chillicothe.
Mrs. Holmes was born Aug. 21, 1920 in Jameson, the daughter of Moss S. and Vera M. Goodwin Marshall. She attended grade school at Boyd Rural School near Gilman City and graduated from Chula High School in 1938. She graduated from the Licensed Practical Nurse program at Trenton Junior College in March 1972.
She was married in 1941 to Wilford Boon, whom she later divorced. She was married to Chester Wilson in Chillicothe in August 1965. He preceded her in death in April 1969. She was married to William J. Holmes in Brookfield on Nov. 22, 1980. He preceded her in death on March 5, 1998.
Mrs. Holmes worked as an LPN at hospitals, nursing homes and several doctors’ offices. She also worked for Sho Me Tours as a travel agent. She was a member of Freedom Baptist Church in Brookfield and was a member of the Linn County Democratic Women’s Club. She enjoyed traveling, reading and spending time with family and friends.
Mrs. Holmes is survived by a grandson, Mike Boon and his wife, Liz of Chillicothe; a step-son, Bill Holmes and his wife, Cindi of Richmond; a step-grandson, Will Holmes of Spokane, WA; a step-granddaughter, Amanda Holmes Nachtmann and her husband, Chet of Harden; five great-granddaughters, Carrie, Hannah and Sarah Boon of Chillicothe and Morgan and Mackenzie Holmes; two half-sisters, Deloris Ratliff and Deva McHargue of Gilman City; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two sons, Wayne and Gerald Boon; and two half-brothers, Dean and Forrest Marshall.
