Eileen Wright, a 90-year-old resident of Gardner, KS, died on Thursday, Aug. 26, 2010 at the Meadowbrook Rehabilitation Hospital and Nursing Home in Gardner.

Graveside services and burial were held at 1 p.m. today (Monday, Aug. 30, 2010) with Pastor Dan Stratmann officiating. Greenlee-Middleton Funeral Service of Princeton was in charge of the service.
Mrs. Wright was born on Dec. 29, 1919 in Dryad, WA, the daughter of Henry Beecher and Ollie Rosella Weese Ward. She was married on April 22, 1940 to Virgil James Wright, who preceded her in death on Sept. 2, 1984. After the war, they stayed in Washington, where they both worked for the U.S. Civil Service. She worked at a Naval shipyard as a supply clerk for several years, retiring in 1969. The couple then moved to Mercer County and lived on the farm which Virgil’s great-grandfather had purchased in 1895.
She is survived by her son, Vernon Wright of Gardner; seven grandchildren, Nina Williams and her husband, Kert, Tina Lawson and her husband, Mark, and Vincent Wright and his wife, Florence, all of Gardner, Virgil Wright and his wife, Jessica of Enumclaw, WA, James Francis of the state of Washington, Thomas Wright of Gardner and Derek Wright of the state of Missouri; eight great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Ralph Ward; and two sisters, Myrtle Smith and Lilly Pollard.
In addition her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and by eight brothers and sisters, Alta, Virgil, Ruby, Kathleen, Harry, Perry, Madaline and Virgie.
