Mr. Goodman was born on Sept. 1, 1921 in Mulberry, KS, the son of James and Catherine Glasgow Goodman. He was raised in Kansas and graduated from high school in Pittsburg, KS. He was a veteran of World War II, serving with the U.S. Army in the European Theater.
He was married on March 22, 1947 to Vera Louise George, who preceded him in death on Oct. 31, 1997. The couple lived in Kansas City during their first few years of marriage where she worked for the Federal Housing Administration and he worked in the General Motors Plant. In 1953, they moved to Vera’s family farm, northwest of Princeton, and were engaged in dairy farming. Later, they owned and operated the Goodman’s Upholstery and Drapery business in Princeton for several years until retirement.
He was a member of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Princeton, and the Princeton VFW Post. He enjoyed gardening and yard work and, in his earlier years, hunting.
He is survived by eight nieces and nephews, including locally, Andrew Krohn and his wife, Connie of Princeton; and by his companion, Nathalie Cunningham, of Princeton.
He was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; a brother, James Goodman; and by his five sisters, Helen Cox, Marjorie Campbell, Mary Gesslein, Blanche Ziebert and Margaret Krohn.
The family suggests memorial contributions to the Princeton Senior Center, Meals on Wheels Program, in lieu of flowers. Contributions may be mailed to the funeral home at PO Box 316, Princeton, MO 64673.
