According to a family member, the fire occurred around 2:30 p.m. and is believed to have started from a trash fire behind the garage. The garage caught fire first, then the house. By the time firemen arrived, the house was burned to the ground. After calling 911, the couple was able to escape the home, but nothing was able to be saved.
The couple had lived there for 38 years, having raised their family in the home. The family had run their carpet business from the home and will continue to run the business as usual.
