The Livingston County R-3 School District at Chula set its tax levy for the 2010-2011 school year during a meeting held Thursday evening.

According to information provided by Administrator Jocelyn Meservey, the board set the levy at $4.526 on the $100 assessed valuation.
Lunch prices were also set at the same as last year, which is $1.25 for full-priced lunches; 40 cents for reduced priced lunch; 75 cents for full-priced breakfast; and 30 for reduced-priced breakfast. Board members also agreed to adopt the free/reduced lunch income scale of the School Lunch Program.
It was reported that the district has met the Adequate Yearly Progress again and that Bart Reeter, who has the transportation contract, has once again earned Total Fleet Excellence designation for 2010. Board members ex-pressed their gratitude to Reeter and the staff in attaining the commendations.
In other business, the board voted to approve the installation of new energy-efficient light fixtures as presented by Phil Minnick of MW Electric. A milk bid was accepted from Prairie Farms and the board approved the 2009-2010 Annual Secretary of the Board Report and the student and faculty/staff handbook drafts. The board also agreed to hold a Policy Committee meeting, with the date and time to be announced.
The next regular meeting is scheduled for Sept. 14.
