Programs Planned At Crowder Park

Crowder State Park is hosting outdoor programs this Thursday and Friday, which are also the best time to view the Perseid meteor showers.

At 7 p.m. on Thursday, a nature craft program will be held at Shelter 3, allowing participants to make star scopes. There will be a discussion on different constellations that can be sent this time of year. From dusk until 11 p.m. on Thursday, there will be a program, “Evening with the Stars,” in which persons can bring their lawnchairs and blankets to the beach parking lot for a chance to observe the sky while listening to the sounds of the night.
Friday’s program is set from 9 a.m. until noon with a “nature fest.” During this time there will be several activities set up surrounding the beach parking lot, including face painting, nature exhibits, nature craft tables, nature games, a sand castle building contest and nature walks.
All programs are free and open to all ages. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
