Hudson Seeks Re-Election As Associate Circuit Court Judge

Steve Hudson is the current associate circuit judge and is seeking re-election to a fourth term. He and his wife, Lora, and children, Samantha and Tanner, reside at 146 S Hwy 65 in rural Trenton. He has served as associate circuit judge since 1998 and before that was Grundy County Prosecuting Attorney.

I am a 1979 graduate of Trenton High School and received a bachelor of science degree in 1983 from William Jewell, graduating magna cum laude (with honors). I received my juris doctorate from the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Law in 1986, where I received the Terry L. Thomas Trial Practice Award. While at William Jewell, I was named to the first team NAIA football and academic All-American teams in 1983. From 2000 to present, I have received numerous judicial continuing education hours.
I was born in Trenton and have made Trenton my home all my life. This December, my wife, Lora, and I will celebrate our 24th wedding anniversary. Lora currently teaches preschool for the Trenton R-9 School District. My daughter, Samantha, will be a senior at Trenton High School and my son, Tanner, will be an eighth grader at Trenton Middle School. My parents, Jerry and Dorothy Hudson, reside in Trenton, along with my brother, Kevin.
I have served, am currently serving or have been actively involved in the following: Wesley United Methodist Church (Sunday school teacher, member); play-by-play color commentator for Trenton High School football radio broadcasts (20-plus years); Coon Creek Baptist Church Community Thanksgiving Dinner (volunteer server and delivery person); North Central Missouri Fair Board (past president twice); Trenton Quarterback Club; Trenton Area Chamber of Commerce Board; FFA Boosters (past president); American Cancer Society Relay for Life (emcee); Grundy County United Way Board; NCMC Office Occupations Advisory Committee; NCMC Agricultural Advisory Committee; Trenton R-9 Vocational Agriculture Advisory Committee; Trenton High School homecoming speaker (twice); Miss Trenton Scholarship Pageant Board; Fifth and Sixth Grade Basketball Program coach; Trenton Baseball Association coach; Phantoms Fastpitch Softball coach; Punt, Pass and Kick coordinator; Local Elks Hoop Shoot facilitator; and Trenton Park Board. I care deeply about this community and all of its citizens and believe that there is no better place to live and raise a family. In my free time, I can be found active in the community, which is something that I have always believed in, not just in times of election.
What is Your Background for This Office:
I have been the Grundy County Associate Circuit Judge for the past 12 years. During that time period, I have presided in approximately 21,000 Grundy County cases. I have been a multiple recipient of the Daniel F. O’Toole Award for excellence in service by providing timely justice to the public. I have been assigned as judge to more than 700 cases in nine Missouri counties, including St. Louis and Kansas City courts. Prior to holding the position as judge, I was the Grundy County Prosecutor for four-plus years, was the Grundy County assistant prosecutor for four-plus years and conducted a private law practice for 12 years. I am a member of the Missouri Bar Association, the Third Circuit Bar Association, have served as vice president and secretary of the Ninth Judicial Circuit Bar Association, participated in the Missouri Bar Association Young Lawyers Speakers Bureau and have delivered several presentations to schools and community groups.
What Makes You the Best Candidate for This Position:
Judicial experience counts. I am the only candidate with experience as a judge. It has been an honor and privilege to serve the citizens of Grundy County in public office as prosecutor and judge for over 20 years. I will continue my commitment to everyone to apply the law in a professional, consistant, fair and impartial fashion in all matters that come before my court. I am a very dedicated associate circuit judge and I make myself available any time, day or night, and am always ready and available to fulfill my duties as judge.
