Got a date coming up but you’re not sure where to take her? Well call me crazy, but why not take her to a Kansas City Royals game at Kauffman Stadium?

We have all seen the various TV shows where the attractive wife comes into the living room asking for help with something and the overweight husband says the inevitable quote “honey the game is on” – see The King Of Queens or According To Jim.
It is true that most females are not uber baseball fans like us guys, but let me let you in on a little secret. Watching baseball on TV and watching a game in person at the newly-renovated Kauffman Stadium are two very different animals. For the diehard baseball fan like myself, it doesn’t matter if you have to follow the game on your cell phone’s Internet browser just so long as you know what’s happening. I’ll take radio, TV or in person. But for females, baseball can seem like it drags on for hours and it can be kind of boring. Take them to the stadium, however, and I will guarantee you they will have a good time.
Going to the game is an experience and, honestly, watching on TV doesn’t come anywhere near matching that. I took my fiancee’ Tiffany to her first Royals’ game ever in April of 2009. I have to admit, I was a little nervous on the way down, thinking she would be ready to leave by the third inning. We got there, however, and when the final out was recorded in the ninth inning her response was “it’s over?” She was having such a good time she didn’t even realize she had just sat through a nine-inning baseball game.
Tiffany is a big football fan, more so than most girls, but she had never seen a baseball game until she met me. She loves the Missouri Tigers and I took her to some Mizzou football games last year. Despite being a much bigger fan of football than baseball, when I asked her which she liked better, she chose the Royals.
Why? It’s the renovations. The facelift the K received has turned it into something every person, regardless of sex, race and age, can enjoy. There literally is something for everybody at the new K. When Tiffany and I go to Royals games, we play mini golf, go to Sheridan’s for ice cream, walk through the fountains and outfield plaza and, oh yeah, watch baseball. The renovations also give the stadium a very clean and new feel and everybody loves that.
So I’ll say it again. Grab your girlfriend, fiancee’, wife or even just a close friend and head to Kauffman. You will get your baseball up close and personal and she will have a good time as well. It is a win-win situation that can’t miss.
