Election Judges Named For August Primary

Election judges have been named for the Aug. 3 Primary Election have been announced.

In local contested races, there is a three-way race for Grundy County Clerk, with Republicans Betty Spickard, Jennifer Barone and Brandon Norton vying for the seat that is currently held by Kristi Urich. Mrs. Urich, a Republican, has chosen not to seek re-election and there are no Democrats seeking the nomination. Republicans Steven D. Hudson and Jason Slade Spillman are in a race for associate circuit judge, a seat currently held by Hudson. There are no Democrats seeking the position.
Local uncontested races include the office of prosecuting attorney, which is being sought by Democrat Carol Wetherell, and circuit clerk/ex-offcio recorder Charlene Arnold, also a Democrat. Republican Rick Hull is not facing an opposition for Grundy County Presiding Commissioner.
Republicans, Democrats Libertarians and members of the Constitution Party will also select candidates for the November General Election, including U.S. Senator, a seat currently held by Republican Kit Bond, who is not seeking re-election; Missouri State Auditor, a position currently held by Democrat Susan Montee; Sixth District State Representative, an office currently held by Republican Sam Graves; 12th District State Senator, a seat currently held by Republican Brad Lager, who has no opposition; and Third District State Representative, currently held by Casey Guernsey, a Republican.
Missouri voters will also be deciding the fate of Proposition C, which would change Missouri statutes to deny the government authority to penalize citizens for refusing to purchase private health insurance or infringe upon the right to offer or accept direct payment for lawful healthcare services and to modify laws regarding the liquidation of certain domestic insurance companies.
Polls will be open from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Aug. 3, with absentee balloting to take place until 5 p.m. Monday, Aug. 2.

Liberty and Myers Townships (voting at the Galt Baptist Church) -Majorie Grisamore, Linda Baugher, Republicans; Gloria Koon, Goldie Ruegsegger, Democrats.
Wilson and Marion Townships (voting at the Laredo Community Center) – Cleta Sterling, Nora Reeter, Republicans; James Hamilton, Emma Gardner, Democrats.
Franklin and Washington Townships (voting at the Spickard Christian Church) – Rhonda McIntosh, Carol Marrs, Republicans; Carolyn Brown, Clarice Bosley, Democrats.
Harrison and Lincoln Townships (voting at the John Ausberger building at 559 NW Fifth Ave., Tindall) – Helmi Erp, Clara George Republicans; Lois Diercks, Darlie Ricketts, Democrats.
Madison and Taylor Townships (voting at Edin-burg Baptist Church) – Barbra Adams, Lucille Smith, Republicans; Wanda Long, Margaret Turner, Democrats.
Trenton First Ward and Jefferson Townships (voting at the Grundy County Courthouse) – Karen Prewitt, Betty Sager, Republicans; Betty Mullins, Harold Kost, Democrats.
Trenton, Second Ward (voting at the Frey Building on the campus of North Central Missouri College)- Doris Pilcher, Betty Eads, Republicans; Carolyn Dickerson, Rosemary Cudney, Democrats.
Trenton, Third Ward (voting at the First Church in Trenton) – Lucille Fletcher, Tootie Edwards, Republicans; Barbara Pfaff, Verlene Matlage, Democrats.
Trenton Fourth Ward and Jackson Township (voting at the First Baptist Church Recreational Center) – Janet Spencer, Bonnie Moore, Republicans; Sheron Lovell, Yvonne Ulmer, Democrats.
Judges for the absentee ballots will include Betty Evans and Sharlene Wyant, Republi-cans, and Mary Lou Crawford and Talma Holt, Democrats.
A meeting of supervisory judges is scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday, Aug. 2 at the courthouse.
