Johnny W. Johnson, a 79-year-old resident of Trenton, died on Saturday, June 21, 2008 at the North Kansas City Hospital.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, June 25, 2008 at Whitaker-Eads Funeral Home in Trenton. Burial will be in the South Evans Cemetery.
Open visitation will begin at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, June 24, 2008 at the funeral home.
Mr. Johnson was born on May 12, 1929 in Old Hickory, TN to Wendt and Osha Mertle York, Johnson. He served as a corporal with the United States Army during the Korean War. He was married on April 10, 1970 to Linda Betz.They farmed around the Spickard and Laredo areas. After his retirement, they bred, raised, and showed quarter horses. He was a member of the American Quarter Horse Association, the American Paint Horse Association and helped to found the Illinois Quarter Horse Association.
Surviving relatives include his wife, Linda, of the home; a daughter, Christi Green and her husband, John, of Canton; a son, Brad Johnson of Trenton; a brother, James Johnson and his wife, Jean, of Windsor, IL; two sisters, Elma Cook and Doris McDowell of Mattoon, IL; three grandchildren, Katherine Green and and her companion, Jasmin Hosic, of Fenton, Vince Green and his companion, Suzan Weaver, of Fayette and Samantha Jo Johnson of Gallatin; a great-grandson Benjamin Green.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Paul Johnson, and Charles “Cowboy” Johnson; and a sister, Louise Horn.
