Loren Gene Monteer, a 56-year-old resident of Sedalia died Wednesday night, June 18, 2008, at University of Missouri Hospital in Columbia.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, June 23, 2008 at the new Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Home in Stover. Interment will follow in the Pleasant Union Cemetery southwest of Stover.
A family visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral at the funeral home.
Mr. Monteer was born August 26, 1951, in Stover, the son of Willis and Gertie Whittle Monteer.
Mr. Monteer had worked in the lumber industry and later for Rival Manufacturing in Sedalia. He enjoyed being outdoors, where he could cut wood, hunt and fish. He also enjoyed cars, auctions, dancing and being with family and friends.
Survivors include two sons, Travis Monteer of Sedalia and Shawn Monteer and wife, Lisa of Ellsworth Air Force Base, SD; one daughter, Cristy Griffith and husband Rashaan of Marietta, GA; four brothers, Everett Monteer and companion, Lisa of Sedalia; Larry Monteer and wife, Pam of Trenton; Earl Dean Monteer and wife, Vanessa of Sedalia and Milford Monteer and wife, Melva of LaMonte; three sisters, Madeline Lawson Middleton and husband Richard of Belton; Willa Mae Lowery and husband Jim of Keota, OK and Frances “Dean” Tucker of Sedalia; four grandchildren, Paige and Victoria Monteer and Miles and Jai Griffith; and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Mr. Monteer was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Ralph Dean Monteer and Winford Lee Monteer; and one sister, Lela Mae Monteer.
