The Trenton Acting Guild is holding auditions for the musical, “Tom Sawyer,” at 2 p.m. on Sunday, June 22, at 2 p.m. in the Hoover Theatre at the Grundy County-Jewett Norris Library.

Speaking roles are available for five men, five women, four girls and six boys. Three of the boys’ roles will require duet or solo singing – Tom Sawyer, Huck Finn and Sid Sawyer. Two of the women’s roles also require solo singing – Aunt Polly and Cousin Mary. All roles require chorus singing,
Those who wish to audition for speaking roles will be asked to read from the play script. Scripts are available for check out or perusal at the library. Those who wish to audition for singing roles should come prepared to sing a song. The song does not have to be from the show. An accompanist and a CD player will be available.
Everyone who wants to perform in the show needs to come to the audition to learn about the rehearsal schedule. Newcomers are welcome to participate. Children need to have completed the third grade. Anyone interested in helping with set construction or running lights and sound for the show is also asked to come on June 22. For more information, persons can call 359-6229.
Performance dates for the show are July 25 and 26. Diann Barnes is the musical director for the show. Ann Sampson is the costumer for the show. Leta Wheeler is the technical coordinator. Dr. Vicki Wheeler is the director.
