The commission, which met today in special session, has reached an agreement with Hy-Vee Food Store to supply the detention center with frozen meals. Commissioners indicated that purchasing the meals from Hy-Vee will save a minimum of 70 to 80 cents per meal over the cost of meals from John Graves, which has been providing the meals. Hy-Vee will be delivering the meals to the detention center. The commission was also scheduled to meet at 1 p.m. today with Ken West and Johne Chapman, the architect and contractor, respectively, for the detention center.
Commissioners will meet again on Tuesday, with bids for the sale of a dump truck to be opened at 8:30 a.m., followed by the opening of bids for used steel at 9 a.m. and a report from Ambulance Director Steve Tracy at 10 a.m. Landscaping proposals will be considered at 1:30 p.m. The commissioners will be eating lunch in Trenton during the noon hour and have announced that they will no longer be traveling to surrounding communities for lunch due to the high cost of gasoline, however they are willing to meet with anyone out in the county who requests a meeting.
