Steve Perry, who is serving as chairman of the group, said a barbecue and cookout are planned for Saturday, June 21 during the Gooseberry Festival. The barbecue will be held at the baseball tournament being held at the Ebbe Sports Complex while the cookout will be held at the Trenton Shooting Range during the trap/skeet shoot competition. The group will also have concessions at the ballgame.
There will also be tables set up at each site, where persons can purchase tickets for items to be given away. Among the items are two tickets to each of four Kansas City Chiefs pre-season football games, Harley Davidson merchandise and an autographed football helmet. Other items will be announced as they are received.
The group also plans to hold a car wash and barbecue on Saturday, Aug. 16 at Barnes-Baker Automotive. More information will be announced later.
Beginning this Thursday, the group will be having concessions available during the trap/skeet league. Monies will also be used for the Grimes Field renovations.
Persons wanting to make a donation toward the project can do so by making their checks out to the American Legion and marking them as Grimes Field donation. The checks can be sent to Trenton City Hall in care of the American Legion.
Persons having items they would want to donate for future give-aways are asked to contact Perry at 359-4408, Arnie Arneson at 339-7220 or Kerry Sampson at city hall, 359-2012.
The next meeting of the group is planned for 7 p.m. on Thursday, June 12 at city hall.
