THS Golfers Win Fourth-Straight At Brookfield
Macon finished second to the Bulldogs, shooting a 318, and Brookfield rounded out the top three with a 344.
“It was nice to go over there because it’s a good tournament,” Coach Travis Mullenix said. “We were really happy to win again. That was a goal of the boys since we had won the tournament the last three years. To send out Tyler Brinkley and Jim Weaver with a 4-0 record in that tournament is something they wanted to get accomplished.”
The Bulldogs were paced once again by Brinkley. Brinkley shot a 77, the second best score of the tournament, just two strokes off Macon’s Jared Thrasher, who led the field with a 75. Brinkley shot a 38 on the front nine and a 39 on the back nine to finish with his total of 77.
Weaver had the Bulldogs’ second lowest score with a 78. The score was good for a tie for third overall at the tournament. After a card playoff, Weaver officially finished fourth overall.
Behind the seniors, Trenton also got very solid performances from Ryan Wade and Ethan Bunnell.
Wade shot a 79 to earn a tie for sixth. With the card playoff, Wade ended up with an eighth-place showing.
Bunnell shot an 82 to place him 10th overall at the tournament. Bunnell’s 82 rounded out the Bulldogs’ score of 316.
“I was really happy with Wade and Bunnell,” Mullenix said. “It was nice to see those two step up their game and shoot well again.”
D.J. Christenson was also in action for the Bulldogs, shooting a 91.
Junior Varsity
The Trenton JV golfers were also in action Tuesday in the Macon JV Golf Tournament. Trenton had a solid day on the course, finishing in fourth place among the 12-team field.
Trenton shot a 393 team score on the day. Boonville took the top spot with a score of 373, while Moberly took second with a 381 and Kirksville took third with a 383.
Cree Beverlin shot an 89 to lead the way for the Bulldogs. Beverlin’s score was good for third place overall at the tournament. Beverlin put together a consistent day, shooting a 44 on the front nine and a 45 on the back.
Kelby Wyatt also medaled, shooting a 91 to place fifth.
“Cree has been working hard all year trying to get better,” Mullenix said. “I was really happy to see him get that third-place finish along with Kelby Wyatt taking fifth. Those are they guys we are looking for to step up onto the varsity team next year.”
Also in action for the JV Bulldogs were James Dannatt, who shot a 101; Kevin Ewing, who shot a 112; and Ryan Allnutt, who shot a 156.
