“The coaches over there know them from seeing them at team camp the last couple of years,” Trenton Head Football Coach Wes Croy said. “I know that they are excited that they are going to be a part of their program. I’m proud of them and I think Truman is getting two kids that will end up seeing the field for them at some point in time. They are excellent football players and they were very important to what we did over the last couple of years here at Trenton.”
Stevens leaves Trenton as the number five leading rusher in school history with 2,004 yards. Stevens ran for 1,064 yards in 2007 and scored 11 touchdowns. Stevens was also the team’s leading receiver with five catches for 115 yards and two touchdowns.
Mayfield was the team’s top defensive player, racking up a team high 105 tackles in 2007. Mayfield also recorded two sacks and 10 tackles for loss.
The two were instrumental keys to the Bulldogs’ success in 2007 when the team won a school-record 11 games and captured their third district and first sectional titles.
