William C. Burkeybile, an 86-year-old resident of Macon, died on Saturday, April 19, 2008 at the Samaritan Hospital in Macon.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, April 23, 2008 at the Spickard Baptist Church. Rev. Guy Olin Thomas will officiate. Burial will be in the Half Rock Cemetery, east of Spickard.
A family visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, April 22, 2008 at the Hutton and McElwain funeral Home in Macon.
Mr. Burkeybile was born on July 22, 1921 in Mill Grove, the son of Glen and Anna Owens Burkeybile. He was married on Oct. 4, 1941 in Princeton to eva Ocie Wendt, who preceded him in death on Oct. 20, 2001. He was a livestock farmer for 45 years near Spickard. He served on the Washington Township Board for 12 years and was a member of the Spickard Baptist Church for many years. After moving to Macon in 1995, he was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, training horses, woodworking, growing a large garden and giving most of the produce away, playing cards at the Macon Senior Center and watching the St. Louis Cardinals play baseball.
He is survived by one son, Michael R. Burkeybile of Macon; two grandsons, Matthew Ryan Burkeybile of Columbia and Drew Michael Burkeybile and his wife, Tiffany, of Richmond; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by an infant son; an infant daughter; one brother, Cecil; and one sister, Golda.
Memorials are suggested to the Macon Senior Center.
