North Central Missouri College is the recipient of a $300,000 grant as well as a $740,000 loan, which will provide funding for the new allied health building to be constructed on the NCMC campus later this year.
NCMC Gets Grant, Loan For New Building
Funding for both the grant and loan came through the U.S. Department of Agriculture. According to NCMC President Dr. Neil Nuttall, the grant will be leveraged with a grant from Grundy Electric Cooperative to help with construction of the building as will the loan, which is a 0 percent interest-free loan that will have a 10-year payback.
“We are just thrilled,” Dr. Nuttall said. “With the grant, the loan and another low-interest loan through Grundy Electric ($250,000), we will have $1.3 million to help with building our allied health center. That will mean we will need to borrow very little money to help with the new building and also means that money we would have had to pay out in interest can now be used to help with construction and furnishing the facility.”
Dr. Nuttall credited the work of GEC officials Scott Wilson and Peggy Boulware in helping to secure the $300,000 grant and the company’s willingness to support the college with the additional grant match as well as the $250,000 low-interest loan.
The new building will allow NCMC to increase its allied health program as well as create five new jobs to go along with 134 existing jobs. The current “Invest in the Vision” campaign has raised over $9 million, of which a portion of that has been earmarked for the allied health building project.
