The Trenton Middle School track teams traveled to Cameron Tuesday night for the Cameron Middle School Relays. The Trenton boys brought home three first place medals and placed in a total of 17 events, 11 in the eighth grade division and six in the seventh grade division. The girls, meanwhile, captured two first-place finishes in the seventh grade division. All totaled, the Lady Bulldogs had 33 place-winners in the two divisions combined.

Trenton’s girls had a pair of relay teams take home first place medals in the seventh grade division. The 4×200 team of Chandler Wilson, Magie Steinhoff, Jaci Tracy and Avery Whitaker captured first as did the 4×400 team of Maddie Hooyman, Alyssa Shultz, Megan Sole and Haley Bell.
Individual place-winners for the Lady Bulldogs in the seventh grade division included, Wilson, who was second in the 100 and 200-meter dashes, as well as in the long jump; Ashley Osborn, who was sixth in the 200-meter dash; Kate Lowrey, who was second in the 400-meter dash and 800-meter run and fourth in the long jump; Hooyman, who was fifth in the 400-meter dash and fourth in the high jump; Jessica Tracy, who was fourth in the 800-meter run; Kendra Lickteig, who was fifth in the 800-meter run and second in the 1600-meter run; Bell, who was sixth in the 800-meter run; Sole, who was third in the 1600-meter run; Whitaker, who was fifth in the 115-meter hurdles and second in the high jump; Haley Purkapile, who was third in the shot put; and Katie Ireland, who was sixth in the shot put.
In the eighth grade division, Trenton had 13 more place-winners in Hannah Mullany, who was second in the 200-meter dash and sixth in the long jump; Mackenzie Mack, who was fifth in the 200-meter dash and fourth in the high jump; Morgan Brown, who was third in the 400-meter dash; Halie Brewer, who was fifth in the 800-meter run; Jordan Sahagun, who was fourth in the 1600-meter run; Brittany Demsich, who was third in the triple jump; Chanel Pash, who was fourth in the triple jump; Shelby Chaney, who was third in the shot put; Katie Halstead, who was sixth in the shot put; the 4×100 relay team of Nikki Zuniga, Mack, Kaylee Lickteig and Mullany, who took third and the 4×200 relay team, which consisted of the same four, who took second.
Bulldogs
James Fairchild was the lone gold medalist for the Bulldogs in the eighth grade division, placing first in the 1600-meter run with a time of 5:20.42. Fairchild also placed fourth in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 18.77.
Keegan McGinness took home second in the 100-meter dash with a time of 13.30 and was also second in the 200-meter dash with a time of 27.52. McGinness placed in the long jump as well, finishing fourth with a leap of 14-05.5.
Brennon Vandevender also captured a second-place medal in the long jump with a mark of 15-02.5. Vandevender also placed in the triple jump, where he was fifth with a jump of 30-10.5, and high jump, where he was sixth with a jump of 4-10.
Trenton had two relay teams place. Both the 4×100 and 4×400 teams took home a third-place finish. The 4×100 team of Clay Oneal, Tyler Ward, Jacob Ishmael and McGinness finished third with a time of 54.86 and the 4×400 team of Fairchild, Aaron Snuffer, Ward and Oneal placed third with a time of 4:21.33.
Morgan Schelker rounded out Trenton’s eighth grade place-winners with a fifth-place finish in the 400-meter dash. His time was 1:08.58.
In the seventh grade division, Trenton had first place winners in Jacob Spillman, who won the 1600-meter run with a time of 5:56.04, and Seth Acton, who won the 800-meter run with a time of 2:40.61.
The seventh grade 4×400 team of Acton, Spillman, Dillon Triplet and Austin Taul took home second-place with a time of 4:59.99.
Hunter Treadwell rounded out the seventh grade’s place-winners with sixth-place showings in the long jump (11-03), the triple jump (22-09.5) and high jump (4-02).
The TMS Track teams will return to action on April 14 when they travel to the Brookfield Relays.
