Kenneth E. McAtee, an 88-year-old resident of the Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown, IA, died on Easter Sunday, March 23, 2008 at the Iowa Veteran Home in Marshalltown. He was a former resident of Chariton, IA.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, March 28, 2008 at the Grundy Center Methodist Church in Trenton. Pastor Jerry Henderson will officiate the services. Burial will be in the cemetery at Willis Chapel north of Brimson, with graveside services at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 29, 2008.
Casketbearers will be Donald E. McAtee, Kenneth E. McAtee, Jr., Ronnie L. McAtee and George M. McAtee. Honorary casketbearers will be Ryan A. Hunter, Aaron M. Hunter, Daniel J. McAtee, Dwayne L. McAtee, David L. McAtee, Mathew L. Hennon, Marcus R. Hennon and Nathan L. McAtee.
A family visitation will be held at 1 p.m. until service time, under the Sorden-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services of Lone Tree, IA.
Mr. McAtee was born on Jan, 25, 1920 in Brimson, the son of William Arnold and Mary Elizabeth Allen McAtee. He was married on Dec. 3, 1945 in Gilman City to Doris M. Tamblin, who preceded him in death on May 21, 2007.
Mr. McAtee served with the United States Army during WWII, serving in the European Theatre, 5th Armored Division from March 19, 1942 to Nov. 19, 1945. He enjoyed hunting, trapping, fishing, mushroom hunting and anything to be in the outdoors. He was a farmer most of his life and later worked on construction projects.
He is survived by four sons, Donald E. McAtee of Chariton, IA, Kenneth E. McAtee Jr. and his late wife, Junette, of Lisbon, IA, Ronnie L. McAtee and his wife, Cindy, of San Antonio, TX annd George M. McAtee and his wife, Dawn, of Mayer, AZ; three daughters, Connie L. Hunter and her husband, David, of Pocatello, ID, Phyllis E. Hennon and her husband, Rodney, of Orlando, FL and Patricia A. McAtee of Lisbon, IA; 17 grandchildren; and 28 great grandchildren.
He as preceded in death by his parents; his wife; a son, David Edward; a grandson, Kyle; three sisters, Annie, Mandy and Opal; and eight brothers, Willie, Casper, Hubert, Arthur, Pascal, Willard, Merle and Leonard.
